Norris Norman Erickson was born to Albert and Florence (Price) Erickson. He attended the Van Vliet School 8 years and then Decorah High School. In high school he played trombone in the band and lettered in basketball and baseball. During his Junior year he was chosen to represent the school at Boys’ State in Des Moines, IA. Norris graduated in 1950 from the vocational agricultural course. He attended Iowa State College in Ames, IA and graduated in 1954 with a B.S. in Agricultural Education. Norris did his practice teaching at Cresco, IA. During his high school and college years he spent his summers helping Albert on the farm. He cultivated corn, mowed and baled hay, milked cows, fixed fences, hauled manure and did most of the tractor field work.

Norris Erickson

After college graduation he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base, Columbus, OH. There he met and married Linda Drake 27 Dec 1958. His next assignment took them to Wiesbaden, Germany for four years. Norris and Linda attended the 1960 Olympics in Rome, Italy. Norris was also able to visit distant cousins in Oslo, Norway while stationed in Germany. Next he was assigned to Offutt Air Force Base, Bellevue, NE. After 12 years there he retired from the USAF in 1975. He served one year in Viet Nam from 1967-1968 and was stationed in Saigon during the Soviet backed TET offensive against that city.

Norris and Linda have three children: Wendy, Tracy and Todd. Wendy was born in Germany. All 3 children were educated in Bellevue, NE public schools. Tracy was

Wendy attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY She lives in Omaha, NE where she is a computer program-mer/software systems analyst, a position which takes her into many cities of the U.S. - Des Moines, IA; Orlando, FL; Kansas City, MO; Concord, NH; and Galesburg, IL.

Tracy graduated from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO. Tracy and her husband, Dan Rynders live in Bellevue.

Todd attended Bellevue University and now lives in Portland, OR where he is a carpenter.
